FMR shows art as it has never been shown.
It does not teach art history, but makes people love art by training their taste and ability to see. A school for eyes.

FMR 2023 - Mappa Mundi
FMR’s second volume offers a glance at the contemporary world, observing it through a very distinctive lens, at once methodical and whimsical, that seems to undo the passage of the years: the wildest innovations are studied with the same rigor as the great classics, and ancient artifacts are examined with the fresh curiosity we devoted to unexpected new things.

FMR 2021/2022 — The Undying Phoenix
“Ever the same, yet not the same”: that is what the ancients said of the Phoenix, the miraculous bird that periodically built its own fire, and then rose, reborn, from the ashes.
In 1982, Franco Maria Ricci launched the FMR magazine.
The first season of FMR was an incredible success, so much so that it had four editions in different languages and reached all over Europe and the United States. The adventure was abandoned by Franco Maria Ricci in the early 2000s, after 163 issues, with the sale of the FMR brand, to devote himself to the construction of the Labirinto della Masone.
The originality of the choices, the elegance of the layout, the quality of the texts made it the most popular art magazine in the world.
Federico Fellini called it ‘the Black Pearl’; Jacqueline Kennedy defined it ‘the most beautiful magazine in the world’.
THE RETURN
In the last years of his life, Ricci nurtured the stubborn dream of resuming the publication of FMR.
His dream has now come true. In December 2020, his publishing house reacquired FMR, and the first issue of the new FMR series came out in December 2021.
FMR moves through space and time without boundaries of art, architecture, design, where every surprise, every adventure of the eye is transformed into a stimulus for the imagination and the mind.
‘Gift of the Season’ comes out four times a year, coinciding with the solstices and equinoxes.
DONNER À VOIR - PICTURES
It was Wagner who first wanted darkness in the theatre; Ricci was the first to want it in publishing.
From the iconic blackness of the pages, the images stand out, splendid and perfect after countless colour trials. The attention to detail and the inexhaustible aesthetic coherence make the photographic image in FMR a true hallmark, with its unique way of ‘showing’ art.
Among the great photographers who have collaborated on the issues prepared so far are: Massimo Listri, Guido Mocafico, Giovanni Ricci-Novara, and many others.
UT PICTURA POESIS - TEXTS
‘In poetry as in painting’, said Horace: FMR welcomes within its pages the texts of the finest contemporary authors. The word accompanies the image, in an equal relationship that is a paradigm of balance in publishing.
Some of the great authors who have written for FMR in this first year of the new series: Héctor Abad Faciolince, Maurizio Bettini, Dacia Maraini, Giovanni Mariotti, Patrick Mauriès, Vittorio Sgarbi, Oscar Tusquets Blanca, Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk, and many others.
