Umberto Brunelleschi

Illustrazione, moda e teatro (1879-1949)

Cristina Nuzzi
1979 / 96 PAGES. Language: In two editions: Italian, French
Rare, exquisite illustrations by the talented Umberto Brunelleschi are collected in this volume that sets out to highlight a little-known aspect of his career: that of costume and stage designer.
A renewed interest in Art Nouveau and Art Deco graphic design has led to a partial rediscovery of Umberto Brunelleschi’s work as an illustrator. A Tuscan by birth, he moved to Paris and worked in the French capital from the year 1900 to his death, but his activity as a painter and – more importantly – as costume and stage designer remain largely unknown. This volume therefore represents the true revelation of a sensitive, intelligent artist who stood out for his expressive force and ability to constantly reinvent his art.
