In drawing the portraits of the writers published in La Biblioteca di Babele, Tullio Pericoli filters their likenesses through the irony of a great artist, ultimately giving rise to an entirely new pictorial genre – the literary portrait. This book collects them in a gallery of authors selected by Borges, each accompanied by a biographical and bibliographical note carefully curated by editor Gianni Guadalupi. It opens with a text by Franco Maria Ricci, sharing the story of his encounter and enduring friendship with Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges.
