Aside from the traditional “oriental blue” silk binding and gold-embossed cover, the 2024 planner by Franco Maria Ricci comes with a special extra feature. In honour of the publication of the volume Grand Tour of Europe, in collaboration with Van Cleef & Arpels, a few of the opening pages are reserved for travel notes. At the end of and during Grand Tour journeys, travellers’ accounts of the places visited and feelings roused became key records not only of a period, but also of a season in the life of man. Remembering past journeys or imagining new ones represented – and still does – a true need for us.
